30 km east of Moshi, this crater lake fed from Mount Kilimanjaro is truly an off the beaten track. The views of the surrounding area and the shores of the lake provide a magnificent picnic site.
A natural clean spring water. Ideal for swimming in the warm water and relaxation. The surrounding areas provide stunning views with a great picnic spot and tour into one of the Maasai huts will be worthwhile.

A great place for birds, with fishing settlements around the lake. On the way you pass the TPC Sugar Plantation, a scenic drive especially when the flame trees are in blossom.
50 minutes from Moshi. Walk round the shores of the lake and enjoy a drink or some food at the café or have a picnic.
Pass by the Ndoro waterfalls 40 minutes from Moshi. Walk in the national park with a guide. Drive to Marangu gate, take a guide and walk up to the first hut on the Marangu Route. A tough, full-day walk; wear good boots. You will need to pay for entry into the park.
Uru waterfalls, which lies about thirty minutes out of Moshi town. The 50 meter waterfall is one of the hidden treasures of Kilimanjaro Region and offers you the opportunity to hike through coffee farms and enjoy spectacular views. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch at the base of the waterfall and swim in the pool of the waterfalls.
Marangu is 30km northeast of Moshi town at altitude 1800m, 45 minutes drive form Moshi town. They offer full and half day tour on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Attractions include waterfalls, beautiful views, coffee trees (this is the area where the first coffee tree in Tanzania was planted by German Missionaries), caves used during Maasai/Chagga wars, traditional and modern Chagga art, culture, and homes, see an iron smith at his ancient craft.
Machame area is a mosaic of beautiful valleys, deep gorges, rivers, waterfalls, farms and is a home base for Chagga people. You can visit the natural forests, bridges and caves where local people worshipped, learn about how projects are developed to suit rural settings (such as pottery for water and food storage), walk through the banana and coffee farmlands, learn about coffee production. Hikes in this area will be ideal for acclimatisation before climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
After breakfast drive to Usambara Mountains passing through the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tanzania. Several short stops on the way to take pictures and explanations of the natural environments and large sisal plantations. Lunch at the local hotel at Mombo town or any convenient place on the way. The drive takes about 5 -6 hours to reach the destination Hotel. After check In at the hotel short walks around Mullers Lodge and if time allows walk to the waterfalls nearby. Dinner and overnight at Mullers or Maweni Lodge. (Breakfast at Moshi Hotel, Lunch at Hotel in Mombo town, arrive for dinner at Mullers)
After breakfast, walk from Mullers or Maweni Lodge to Kivuga peak where by Mombo and Korogwe town can be seen. The walk takes about 4- 5 hours. This day much of the tour will be concentrating on the natural Montane Forest. There is a high chance to see most of colourful forest bird species, reptiles (like Chameleons) butterflies, black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Vervet Monkeys and forest flowering plants. Picnic lunch will be provided on the way during lunchtime. On the way back visit the village close to Kivuga peak. On the arrival at the lodge (if the clients are fit) short walks around the lodge for bird watching or to the waterfalls can be arranged. Dinner and overnight at Mullers or Maweni Lodge (Breakfast at Mullers, Picnic lunch will be provided during the tour in the forest, Dinner provided by Mullers)
After breakfast full day tour at Lushoto Town and Irente farm. The bus will drop the group at Lushoto town for short walk around the area, if lucky during the market days the group will have chance to interact with the local people who come to the market to purchase and sale different farm and other products. The duration of the walk will depend on the interest of the clients. After this tour continue walking to Irente farm passing through the Irente view point. Here there is a breath-taking of the Masai plains where domestic stock roams, see Lake Jipe (an alkaline Lake), Mazinde town and the road from Moshi to Dar es Salaam. After this stop continue walking to Irente Farm where passing trough the sugarcane, banana, coffee, potatoes and vegetable plantations. On the arrival at Irente farm lunch will be served from the locally homemade brown bread, butter, cheese, several types of jams, juice and fresh vegetables and fruits along with Usambara tea and coffee. After lunch walk back to Lushoto town passing through natural tails inside the Montane forest. The bus will be ready at Lushoto town to take the clients back to the lodge. Evening coffee and/ or tea will be served at the lodge during the arrival of the clients. This will be around 15:00 or 16:00 o’clock. Upon the interest and the fitness of the client’s short walks around the lodge can be arranged for bird watching or to the waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at Mullers or Maweni Lodge (Breakfast at Mullers, Lunch at Irente Farms, Dinner provided by Mullers).
